Associate Director, Facilities & Maintenance (Pharma/Biotech/GMP)

Associate Director, Facilities and Maintenance will play a key role in the overall success of our organization by planning, managing, and monitoring maintenance and reliability functions. This position will be responsible for overseeing various reliability projects, processes, budgets, and timelines and making any necessary adjustments to ensure success of the site.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the reliability of all Utilities (HP Boiler, Chilled Water, Purified Water, WFI, Clean Steam, Compressed Air, Industrial Waste, etc.)
  • Drive Reliability and Continuous Improvement Projects for Facilities, Maintenance and Utilities.
  • Lead Tier Meetings, establish and report on metrics
  • Oversee CMMS and approve work orders
  • Maintain all GMP systems in a Qualified state. Ensure Quality Commitments (CAPAs, Deviations, Change Controls) for the department are met on time.
  • Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for maintenance projects.
  • Establish training program and performance goals for the department.
  • Develop internal expertise on Maintenance to minimize reliance on external contractors.
  • Must have excellent Planning and Communication skills
  • Responsibility also includes management of the 3rd party spare parts program, Pest Management program, and Scheduler/Planner for maintenance and calibration
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing Principles and implement visual management tools.


Knowledge & Skills
  • Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems.
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team.
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering and maintenance team on track.
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience.


Required Education & Experience
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience, OR a Master's Degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Facilities and/or Maintenance management role.
  • Experience working in a GMP environment.
