We have an exciting opportunity for an Analytics & Insights Director to join the UK & Ireland affiliate team in our Holborn office, leading our Analytics & Insights team to support and help drive the next phase of Gilead's growth.

The team is responsible for supporting all current and upcoming Gilead and Kite therapeutic areas with market research, forecasting, analytics and insight, as well as making broader contributions within the cross-functional team. There is a great opportunity to further shape the future of this role as we move to more digital and omnichannel ways of working with our customer facing teams and the analytics that will be needed to support this.

The desired candidate would be experienced in management and leadership as well as market research, forecasting & analytics in the pharma/biotech industry, ideally within a UK affiliate and with some relevant therapy experience.

Essential functions
  • Creates high performing team by providing strong leadership, hiring, developing and retaining top talent, with the ability to motivate and engage individuals; communicates team successes and shares best practices.
  • Oversees team to ensure development and delivery of annual market research plans, forecasting, reporting, national and sub-national analytics & SalesForce Excellence (SFE) processes to support commercial objectives.
  • Strategically shapes the direction of the team, considering how resourcing, work allocation and focus should evolve to meet the changing needs of the business as well as driving forward a vision of advancing analytics and insight in line with new ways of working.
  • Applies strategic thinking, commercial acumen and understanding of pharmaceutical markets to recognize/interpret business issues/risks/opportunities and make impactful recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Supports digital/multi-channel marketing initiatives, balancing resource across various transformative and delivers strong insights into analytics for new digital and omnichannel ways of working.
  • Leads by example and empowers team to take direct ownership of their areas and add value to brand teams.
  • Manages vendors and oversees data purchasing, ensures adding value to department and commercial teams.
  • Provides strategic and analytical support to market access processes such as HTAs, tenders and pricing decisions, key member of UK & Ireland pricing committee.
  • Supports planning for new product launches and build-outs for new therapy areas, often taking on hands-on responsibility for early insight gathering, forecasting and resource planning for upcoming new therapy areas.
  • Engages in broader cross-functional projects and processes such as brand planning or strategic resource planning, engaging with cross-functional teams, leaders and field teams to support commercial objectives.
  • Partners with Finance to plan, lead and improve processes for ex-factory sales forecasting and reporting.
  • Partners with Finance to deliver the LE (Latest Estimate Revenue and Expenditure) annual cycle.
  • Proactively builds and engages global and regional affiliate network to leverage and align with existing and emerging processes, tools and infrastructure; champions Gilead UK & Ireland needs and achievements within these forums, drives forward new projects as required and drives local implementation of new initiatives.
  • Partners and collaborates with IT to recommend, drive and support the development and implementation of new system enhancements, representing commercial user viewpoint to address business needs.
  • Drives effective and compliant market research best practices including process documents and training.
  • Oversees robust and transparent forecasting process with cross-functional input to patient model assumptions.
  • Oversees development and delivery of reporting, dashboards, KPI tracking and analysis and data purchasing.
  • Oversees management of analytical databases, data processes and mappings, enlisting support of internal IT and external vendors, encompassing routine maintenance through to working on major new initiatives.
  • Oversees management of SFE analytics processes e.g. CRM, incentives, fieldforce sizing and territory alignment.
  • Independently covers high profile projects or other ad-hoc projects and covers work of team during vacancies.
  • Participates in other affiliate and global/regional projects including some initiatives outside of normal remit.


Knowledge, Experience and Competencies
  • Experience in leading a highly motivated and skilled team working with cross-functional teams or work groups as well as direct reports. Experience managing people managers would be advantageous.
  • Relevant experience across all areas of sales/marketing business insights and analytics (data, analysis, market research, forecasting, SFE, digital and omnichannel analytics), in pharmaceutical or biotech industry, ideally within a UK affiliate and with some relevant therapy experience. In-depth knowledge of Sales and Marketing organizations and pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IQVIA.) is required.
  • Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary market research.
  • Experience in both forecasting and scenario modelling is desirable. Experienced building models that evaluate business situations and provide recommendations.
  • Highly numerate with proven data analysis and interpretation skills, ability to meaningfully portray data visually.
  • Confident presenting recommendations and findings to various stakeholders within the organisation.
  • Applies strategic thinking and communicates highly complex analytical processes in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to effectively communicate technical and qualitative information to non-technical executives.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, ability to influence broad range of internal stakeholders throughout organisation.
  • Ability to assume full responsibility for accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of analysis, processes or deliverables completed through own efforts or those of any external providers or employees. Processes and data integrity must remain \\'robust\\' under pressure, so sanity-checking and troubleshooting skills are essential requirements, as well as independence and integrity. Excellent attention to detail coupled with an ability to understand the \\'big picture\\'.
  • Perspective required to understand commercial and political sensitivities, and contribute to tactical discussions.
  • Must be able to recognise/interpret business issues/opportunities and recommend solutions through analysis.
  • Provides thought leadership through the proper application of analytical techniques.
  • Establishes and maintains positive business relationships in the Commercial organisation and other relevant functions, demonstrating an understanding of internal customers' business needs, their processes, and immediate priorities. Interacts with internal customers ranging from executives to field sales reps.
  • Candidate will have the ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders and work in partnership with other team members and other functions, sometimes in an influencing/leading role, sometime in a supporting role.
  • Track record for excellent project management skills such as planning, objective setting, meeting management and plan execution is required. Organised with systematic approach to prioritization.
  • Can multi-task to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment of changing priorities.
  • High level of resourcefulness and problem solving skills.The successful candidate will demonstrate resilience under pressure, the ability to deliver in an ambiguous environment, the positivity to overcome frustrations and keep team members motivated, and a tenacious drive for excellence.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and strong Powerpoint skills are required. Experience with relevant tools/systems e.g.:
  • Managing structured databases and analytics tools/dashboards
  • Analytical and data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, MicroStrategy, Power BI)
  • CRM systems eg Veeva/Salesforce
  • Forecasting tools and platforms eg i2e, Anaplan, IQVIA Horizon
