THE POSITION:
Under general direction of the Maintenance Manager, performs professional work involving all electrical and mechanical systems at the District's wastewater treatment plant and pumping stations, including troubleshooting, maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.

EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES:
Repair and maintain various electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical process control system components; maintain automatic speed control equipment; service and adjust engines, motors, pumps, valves, boilers, heat exchanges, and chemical feed systems; perform work on and around 480-Volt power systems and multi-phase motors; and other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Any combination of education and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying.
  • Three years recent journey-level experience in electrical circuitry, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in maintaining, repairing, testing, and installing electro-mechanical equipment used in a treatment plant or similar facility; and,
  • Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade supplemented by training in plant mechanics.
  • Two years of college-level coursework covering technical subject matter applicable to this type of work is desirable.
  • Computer skills are highly desirable.

    LICENSE, CERTIFICATION & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and a motor vehicle record that meets the District's driving standards; and,
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within two years of appointment, a CWEA Mechanical Technology Grade II Certificate.
