About the role:

The Director, Performance and Growth will manage best in class performance initiatives and programs that align with and drive a high-performance culture at Gilead. The Director, Performance and Growth will be evolving performance management to a more progressive model while ensure performance management is integrated with Gilead's total rewards and business strategy, incorporating best practices into program design. He or she will coach our leaders on how to successfully have ongoing, development-focused performance conversations with their employees. In addition, he or she will lead the measurement and analysis of success against intended goals. Manage design and implementation of performance management processes, communication, training and related technology systems. Drive the cultural transformation of performance management towards a more progressive, ongoing process that supports employee growth.

This role reports to the Global Head of Learning and is not location dependent.



Responsibilities:

  • Continue the cultural transformation of performance management to a more progressive, ongoing process

  • Lead the change leadership necessary to evolve our culture and the behaviors of leaders and employees to move towards this more progressive approach to managing performance

  • Lead, manage and facilitate our Performance Management strategy and processes (Development Roundtables, Anytime Feedback, Project Reviews, and Promotion Panels) including design and strategy as well as continuing education, marketing/communications, employee engagement/adoption and operational processes.

  • Collaborate with talent management team and HR in design, development, integration change management, and execution of enterprise-wide performance management programs.

  • Build performance strategies that drive outcomes through performance and development and enable recognition of performance in partnership with Total Rewards.

  • Foster a culture continuous, anytime feedback and coaching. Promote a culture that uses coaching and meaningful feedback to help every individual unleash their potential.

  • Provide thought leadership on performance management programs and best practices, growing our capability and continuing to direct the strategy and solutions in alignment with business needs.

  • Ensure the configuration, implementation, and embedding of the performance management module and processes in the Workday system.

  • Identify and ensure effective, development focused measurement of performance by considering practical measurements to assess the accomplishment and progress of an employee's development and desired results.

  • Partner with business leaders, HR and employees to refine and continuously improve performance management strategy and processes - including effective measurement, establishing feedback mechanisms, identifying gaps, and planning programs to support changes.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in Human Resources

  • BS/BA or 10+ Years with MS/MA or MBA

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progressive experience in talent management and/or human capital experience people / performance programs (in either an HR internal role or HR consulting role working directly in Human Capital or Talent Management consulting)

  • Experience advising and guiding leaders and managers in talent management and/or human capital processes in a global organization.

  • Expertise in designing, integrating, and operationalizing performance management and talent management processes across all levels of an organization.

    Leadership Capabilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across a matrixed, global organization, responding quickly to change and adapting/operating in ambiguous environment.

  • Ability to leverage data and insights to diagnose, define focus and align opportunities.

  • Takes a proactive, long term perspective in design and developing approaches to deliver outcomes for the business.

  • Seeks diverse perspectives, experiences and insight; creates an environment of trust and openness.

  • Has a customer focused approach and embeds into mindset, practice and methodology.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; is able to simplify and integrate complex concepts and ideas.

  • Demonstrates development focus by seeking feedback and acting on it and providing feedback to others.
