Deputy Title IX and Gender Equity Officer

In support of this commitment, the Deputy Title IX Officer will support the Title IX and Gender Equity Officer in the efforts to comply with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ("Title IX"), relevant state nondiscrimination laws, and support gender equity.

Reporting to the Title IX and Gender Equity Officer, the Deputy Title IX Officer is tasked with the following key responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake meetings with interested Parties and witnesses to explain the Nondiscrimination Policy, the University's resolution processes (formal and informal), rights and options under the Nondiscrimination Policy, and reasonably available supportive measures.

  • Ensure the consistent documentation of critical decisions such as the provision of supportive measures, emergency removal, the agreement to participate in an Informal Resolution process, and whether to proceed with a formal investigation (including in the absence of a formal complaint from a Complainant).

  • Lead bi-monthly meetings with the Title IX Initial Assessment Team.

  • In consultation with the Title IX and Gender Equity Officer, make determinations about whether allegations contained in reports and formal complaints constitute a potential violation of the Nondiscrimination Policy and, if not, what steps to take in response to the allegations.

  • In consultation with the Title IX and Gender Equity Officer, review new reports for potential patterns of sex- and gender-based discrimination and/or harassment and identify opportunities to provide supplemental Title IX trainings for at-risk populations.

  • In consultation with the Title IX and Gender Equity Officer, supervise the work of internal and external investigators by ensuring adherence of investigators to all applicable law, policies, and procedures; advise and guide investigators regarding revision or modification of reports, correspondence, and/or related documentation, as necessary and appropriate; set and monitor deadlines for investigators; and ensure the timely, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all steps related to the various resolution processes, including formal and informal resolutions.

  • Prepare Notices of Investigation and other correspondence (e.g., Notices of Dismissal, transmittal letters for investigation reports, and periodic investigation updates) for complainants, respondents, and witnesses.

  • Conduct investigations into complaints involving students and employees

  • Supervise the professional development of a team of approximately two (2) investigators, Title IX Project Manager, and a Title IX Analyst.

  • Responsible for all administrative duties related to the support of assigned investigators, such as leave requests, training, equipment, etc.

  • Work with the Project Manager to prepare and deliver training content for campus community members, as necessary and appropriate.

  • Assist with the creation of Title IX informational materials that help to communicate the Title IX Office's mission and clarify the various resolution options.
