Responsibilities: The department of Pharmaceutical and Device Development has an opening for an engineer to work in the development and commercialization of drug-delivery injection devices for Genentech's protein therapeutics. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in application of Engineering best practices, mechanical (design) analysis, risk management, Manufacturing process development, and very strong communication skills.
Additional responsibilities would likely include: - Participate in the development and testing of technical solutions to design or Manufacturing challenges encountered by design partner organizations - Hands-on device evaluation and verification testing including writing protocols and reports - Participate in the development of technical requirements and specifications - Participate in cross-functional project teams for product development and industrialization, including collaborating to author / review / approve process validation protocols - Application of design and development tools including tolerance analysis, reliability engineering, strain analysis, and risk assessments
Requirements: - Expertise and at least 2-5 years experience in an Engineering development role (experience in injection device development is greatly preferred) - Strong team player, capable of managing own workload, with a track record of demonstrated initiative in addressing technical challenges of product and process development - Demonstrated written and spoken communication skills, with focus on technical communications and communications on cross-functional or cross-company project teams - Expertise in device engineering, hands-on mechanical testing, and analytical work (combination products, pre-filled syringes, and auto-injector related experience a plus) - Knowledge of device Manufacturing and assembly principles, from low to high volume preferred - A knowledge of quality Engineering principles and medical device regulatory guidance a plus - Travel 10% - 25%
Education: The candidate will have a minimum of B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
