RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Cooperative Group Lead role seeks to provide a bridge and primary point of contact between the internal stakeholders and the Co-operative Trial Group.
The ultimate deliverable from this strategy is the timely, efficient and effective adoption of clinical studies and other initiatives by various Cooperative Trial Groups for Genentech-Roche agents. (NB When studies supported by the group are undertaken by Cooperative Groups, they must be executed at a level that will not compromise existing IND and NDA activities).
Efficient, smooth and pro-active response to Cooperative Trial Group needs is an essential component of the implementation
Development of strategic analysis and plans are essential to ensure that Genentech-Roche molecules are incorporated into Cooperative Group plans and trials, where appropriate.

Reporting to:

Senior Group Medical Director, Cooperative Group and Key Partnership Programs

Objectives:

Facilitate development and implementation of a comprehensive Cooperative Group strategy, including timeline, budget, gaps and opportunities within the portfolio allocated.
Be visible and serve as the point of contact, resource and facilitation for current and potential Cooperative Group studies/activities both externally and within Genentech-Roche
Identify, develop and maintain high quality scientific and research-based relationships with Cooperative Group Committee Chairs and key Committee members
Develop comprehensive reports outlining Group research and activities for appropriate Medical Director and other follow-up
Identify potential gaps in our current clinical trial portfolio
Per disease state and indication
Relative to Cooperative Group interest and timing
Identify gaps and opportunities for studies within the Cooperative Groups for company agents and seek to initiate appropriate action
Be active members of Medical teams
Work closely with Cooperative Group Operations staff to monitor study development, timelines, budget and publication plans for company supported studies
Facilitate collaboration with other Pharmaceutical companies in order to identify appropriate partnerships and collaborations
Ensure that our strategy within each Cooperative Group is complementary, not competing and in line with the company's disease strategies
Ensure that all Cooperative Trial Group needs and initiatives are addressed in a timely, efficient and pro-active manner. This will also include facilitation of internal processes and responses
Internally, to serve as an interface between stakeholders to ensure coordination, consistency and streamlining of Cooperative Group activities
To function as an advocate for the Cooperative Group initiatives within company strategic planning processes
Together with Clinical Operations teams, to develop, negotiate and monitor contractual milestones & trial budgets

Challenges:

The key challenge of this role is to help shape the vision and translate this from concept to concrete. Cooperative groups represent both a critical set of global scientific leaders, as well as a series of bureaucracies capable of delivering state of the art clinical research. The ability to work closely with these groups is of central importance to the overall Oncology franchise and its future.
The ability to ensure smooth flow of external and internal processes to achieve an efficient, timely, professional and pro-active response to the needs of both the Company and the Cooperative Trial Groups will be essential to the success of this role.
These roles are cross-functional and highly matrixed. The ability to work across traditional boundaries will be critical to acceptance and successful delivery.

REQUIREMENTS

MD preferred
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, pharmacy or nursing
Post-graduate degree in appropriate area of clinical oncology e.g. Masters, PharmD, PhD
3 years minimum oncology (or related field)experience & knowledge, clinically or within Pharma
Demonstrated high level effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Previous experience in liaison or cooperative group role
Ability to work with cross-functional or multi-disciplinary study teams.
Experience in project management, especially with clinical studies/projects
Experience in writing and reviewing protocols and study documents
