Specific Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President, Medical Affairs and based in Foster City, California, this individual will be responsible for all Medical Affairs' activities in Latin America.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
-Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic Plan of Action (POA) for each country in LATAM, regional and national.
-Collaborate with distributors to educate physicians, payers, and patient organizations in a scientifically balanced manner on the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of Gilead’s products across all therapeutic areas, but primarily HIV.
-Contribute to the LATAM team and play an active role in enhancing Gilead's products, expeditious regulatory approvals, improving labelling and overall driving usage of data coming from products doctors and/or patients.
-Work with Global Medical Directors to ensure that local trials are consistent with and Support the product development strategy of our franchises.
-Oversee the locally developed and run clinical trials at the subsidiary level.
-Develop and improve relationships and communication with the key professional scientific and medical communities as well as key opinion leaders and other important customers such as academic physicians, nurses and pharmacists.
-Collaborate with Commercial to achieve pricing & reimbursement in LATAM.
-Work with Government Affairs to help shape Public Health Policy in LATAM.
-Promote Gilead’s scientific image in LATAM.
-Partner with the distributors to ensure the medical and Marketing programs are consistent, scientifically sound, and compliant.
-Participate in National, regional and International meetings, congresses and symposia and contribute to their planning and organization as necessary.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
-Physician with strong scientific background.
-Strong experience in team management.
-Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
-Bring operational excellence and drive our LATAM partners in their activities.
-Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
-Proven track record of working with commercial and R&D organizations.
-Experience in developing and managing Phase 3B/4 protocols in LATAM.
-Proven ability to develop strong relationships within medical communities.
-Fluency in Spanish required.
-Approximately 25% travel required.
