The department of Research Policy and Compliance is responsible for research financial compliance, service center oversight, administration of the fringe and F&A burdening process and oversight of the Oracle financial grants
Accounting system. As a team member in the department, the Senior
Financial Analyst monitors complex policies, procedures and system/business processes to ensure their effectiveness in reducing compliance risk. This includes performing complex financial analysis/reconciliations, working with departments and central offices to resolve issues and offering solutions to improve the effectiveness of controls. The Senior
Financial Analyst will manage and
Support complex audits and resolve audit issues. The analyst will effectively communicate complex positions/decisions to University departmental personnel, auditors, sponsors and federal agencies.
The Senior
Financial Analyst is expected to lead the development and implementation of cost-effective policies and system/process solutions to eliminate or mitigate compliance risk in a complex, dynamic regulatory and technological environment. The Senior
Financial Analyst must be able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple assignments to completion within agreed upon deadlines, be able to perform as a team member/leader, collaborate with departments and central offices to achieve team goals and always maintain a positive professional team attitude. The individual will perform special assignments demonstrating their flexibility and “out of the box” analysis and solutions.
The Senior
Financial Analyst is required to have an expert knowledge of grant and contract
Accounting policies and regulations, federal regulations such as OMB Circular A-21, A-110, A-133, the Federal Acquisition Regulations, cost
Accounting standards and major sponsor grant policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
• BA/BS in accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience, MBA or CPA preferred. Seven or more years of related professional experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of grant and contract
Accounting policies and regulations such as OMB Circular A-21, A-110, A-133, Federal Acquisition Regulations, cost
Accounting standards and major sponsor grant policies such as NIH and NSF.
• Knowledge of Stanford research administration processes, specifically post-award administration desirable.
• Superior
Accounting and analytical abilities required for complex problem solving.
• Able to independently diagnose and solve problems using sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required, including effective documentation practices.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills required. Experience in leading complex projects and working with diverse teams in a decentralized environment.
• Successfully manage multiple assignments to completion within agreed upon deadlines.
• Able to work independently in a dynamic environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Access. Demonstrate a working knowledge of and ability to use the ORACLE
Financial suite and Business Objects reporting tools. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with others to achieve team goals.
